THE DEHART EDUCATION GROUP
The Methodology Playbook | An educator’s digital guide to excellence.
The Teach from DeHart educational methodology, or DeHart Model, is a practical playbook of instructional and assessment practices integrated into each school subject that help educators create learning environments that maximize holistic student growth in all pillars of the whole-child education model. The DeHart Model is practiced daily with current students at our model middle school, Teach from DeHart Academy in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and our model teachers are partners in education with other educators using our model around the world for ongoing support and collaboration. Through our collaborative support and the specific teaching and assessment practices explained in this playbook, schools in any environment across the globe can achieve goals similar to those we strive to do for our students every day at the Teach from DeHart Academy: Create opportunities, Develop goals, Change lives.

WHAT SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE WILL TEACHERS ACQUIRE?
The methodology explained in the Teach From DeHart Model focuses on bridging the gap between academic and non-academic performance in the classroom through the development of skills outside of academics. Via high standards, purposeful opportunities, and consistency and repetition, the non-academic skills addressed in our methodology to improve academic performance include but are not limited to the following:
○ soft skill development (i.e. communication, collaboration, adaptability, work ethic, problem-solving)○ speech & argumentative discourse
○ social setting awareness and presentation skills
○ learned academic engagement
○ creative and entrepreneurial mindset development
The DeHart Model also emphasizes the importance of creating an environment where students engage in higher-level thinking and questioning to further develop students’ academic prowess. This includes the following:
○ Structured academic discourse○ Critical thinking development
○ Use of rubrics for self-assessment
○ Constructed-response assessments without multiple-choice
